Cairns, Home of the Great Barrier Reef

After 5 magical days in Sydney, exploring the Opera House, the Botanical Gardens, Manly Beach, Bondi Beach, the Blue Mountains, and several amazing neighborhoods, we flew to Cairns, home of the Great Barrier Reef!

In the 2.5 days we were in Cairns, we covered a lot of ground! We did an all day catamaran to the Great Barrier Reef, with two opportunities to snorkel, and several opportunities to relax and learn about the reef

Cairns has truly epic street food! Of the three nights we were there, we visited Skewers Lovers two of those nights. You pick a variety of skewers, priced between $1-$3, and they grill them up for you! We opted for spicy, of course.

We also did a day trip to the Daintree Rainforest. The Daintree is over 135 million years old! To walk through the forest that leads to a beach was a beautiful way to pass the afternoon.
