Scandinavia

I try to avoid my top 10 moments being entire trips, since it doesn’t capture a magical feeling related to a moment in time. Yet, I am breaking my rule to add “Scandinavia” as a top ten moment because I loved every second of my trip to Stockholm, Oslo, and Copenhagen! 

If I were to pick a moment in Stockholm, it would be the visit to the Vasa Museum, home of a recovered viking ship that sank in 1628. Although I enjoy a good art or generic history museum, I love a single subject museum where I can go deep on a topic, especially a topic like a viking ship that I had never heard of! After the museum, we grabbed lunch on museum island and had some of my favorite dishes of the trip.

A top moment in Oslo is really tough, considering the Munch museum (another single subject museum), a 4 hour multi-course Michelin starred meal, and biking all around in the city whose motto is “free to roam” were all great moments.

Copenhagen is even harder to pinpoint because I just felt like I could live there. I was just being myself, in an amazing city, where I could bike, sit on the water, look at cool ceramics, and drink Mikkeller NA beers.
