2022 Goal Setting: Projects & Programs

You made your longest to-do list ever. Now, it’s time to start project managing your life.

Let’s organize your massive to-do list!

  1. Cluster related items from your list together. I encourage you to define “related” as in very closely related, like your mother or your child, not your first cousin once removed. Making a dentist appointment is related to making a dermatologist appointment, because they are both doctor’s appointments. You may also decide that finding a new skincare routine is related to visiting the dermatologist, since perhaps your dermatologist said you need to moisturize more. Finding a new skincare routine might also be related to creating new positive habits in 2022. Relate it to the items that make the most sense for YOU!

  2. Put a name to these clusters, like “Appointments” or “Podcast Goals.”

  3. Now, cluster your clusters! Think of the cluster of clusters as your themes for your to-do list. If you are working on a book and starting a podcast, together they might make a cluster of “Launch new brand.” If you are planning your kids epic first year birthday party and aiming to host 4 dinner parties this year, together they might make a “Event planning” cluster.

Your clusters are your projects and your clusters of clusters are your programs.  A project is a series of related tasks that need to be completed in order to achieve a certain goal. A program is a series of related projects.

I’ll outline the benefits of projects and programs in my next post! Congratulations on all of the hard work you’ve done so far.
