The Best Birthday
My original plan for my birthday was to stay at the Mohonk Mountain House for the weekend. When a work trip came up, along with plans to redo our floors that same week, I decided I wanted to stay put and enjoy the perfect NYC day.
After a 5 mile walk to Tone House, I exercised my butt off in the Intro to Conditioning class, a class I hadn’t taken in 3 years. At the new age of 37, I wanted to start my day jumping over literal hurdles to prove that there were many challenges to still face and fears to still overcome. I redeemed a free $5 coupon to Gregory’s coffee and enjoyed journaling while sipping on my cappuccino. Sung met me at Summit at One Vanderbilt, a new tourist destination by Grand Central.
We took in the views before heading out to Little Collins for Australian brunch. For all of the burgers you see on my instagram, all I really want most days is the perfect salad. The treat would come later when I redeemed my free Sprinkles cupcake.
On our way uptown, we stumbled upon a coffee truck outside of Bloomingdale’s giving out free coffee which paired well with our free tickets to the Whitney Museum. Next, a beautiful mocktail was in order, skillfully crafted at the female owned speakeasy Pine & Polk.
My birthday ended at L’Artusi, a top Italian restaurant that I have not visited since 2010. Tasting that amazing pasta again was a true delight, almost as great as the top notch cheeseburger they make.
I waltzed into 37 feeling energized, happy, and delightfully full, but with room for more. What’s next?
